What is Diacomit?
Diacomit (stiripentol) is an anticonvulsant medication used in conjunction with other medications like Clobazam and Valproate to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome in patients 2 years of age and older. It enhances the activity of GABA, a neurotransmitter in the brain that helps to prevent seizures. - Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely.
- This medicine may cause changes in behavior or mood, including thoughts of suicide.
- This medicine may make you drowsy. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or phenylketonuria.
