- Interactions with certain drugs that inhibit or induce cytochrome P450 3A4 can result in an increase or decrease in fentanyl plasma concentrations, respectively, potentially leading to fatal overdose or inadequate pain control
- Do not use in cases of acute or postoperative pain, as the drug is intended for managing persistent, severe chronic pain requiring continuous opioid analgesics
