What is Carbidopa ?

Carbidopa is a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor primarily used in combination with levodopa to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease. By inhibiting the enzyme responsible for breaking down levodopa before it reaches the brain, carbidopa enhances the availability of levodopa, improving its efficacy and reducing peripheral side effects such as nausea. This combination helps in managing motor symptoms associated with dopamine deficiency in Parkinson's disease patients.
