What is Otezla?
Otezla (apremilast) is an oral medication used for the treatment of certain inflammatory conditions including psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. It works by inhibiting an enzyme known as phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), which results in the reduction of inflammation and other symptoms associated with these conditions. Otezla is typically prescribed when other treatments have not been effective or suitable for the patient.
Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Feeling sad or depressed
- Severe diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
Warnings
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, low blood pressure, or a history of depression.
- This medicine may cause depression or thoughts of suicide.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
