What is Phenylbutazone ?

Phenylbutazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) primarily used to reduce inflammation, pain, and fever in animals. It acts by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins, thereby reducing inflammatory responses and associated symptoms. Due to its potential side effects, including serious gastrointestinal and renal toxicity, its use in humans has been severely restricted and is no longer common.
