What is Prestalia?
Prestalia is a prescription medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) to lower the risk of cardiovascular events such as strokes and heart attacks. It combines two active ingredients, perindopril arginine, an ACE inhibitor, and amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker, which work together to relax blood vessels and improve blood flow. This combination allows for better management of blood pressure in patients for whom treatment with either component alone is not sufficient.Side Effects
- Change in how much or how often you urinate
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, yellow skin or eyes
- Severe stomach pain (with or without nausea or vomiting)
Warnings
- This medicine could lower your blood pressure too much, especially when you first use it or if you are dehydrated. Stand or sit up slowly if you are lightheaded or dizzy.
- Do not stop using the medicine without asking your doctor, even if you feel well. This medicine will not cure your high blood pressure, but it will help keep it in the normal range. You may have to take blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.
- It is not safe to take this medicine during pregnancy. It could harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant.
- Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, heart disease, or heart failure.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Angioedema (severe swelling), including head, neck, and intestinal swellingWorsening chest pain or increased risk of heart attackLow blood pressureKidney problemsLiver problems
