What is Rybelsus?
Rybelsus (semaglutide) is an oral glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It enhances insulin secretion, reduces glucagon secretion, and slows gastric emptying to help manage blood sugar levels in adults. This medication is typically prescribed when diet and exercise alone have not been sufficient to control glucose levels.

- Decrease in how much or how often you urinate, lower back or side pain, blood in your urine
- Sudden and severe stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever
Warnings
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Do not use this medicine for at least 2 months before you plan to become pregnant.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Increased risk of thyroid tumorPancreatitis (swelling of the pancreas)Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), when used with other diabetes medicineKidney problems
- Do not breastfeed during treatment with this medicine.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, pancreas problems, or a history of diabetic retinopathy.
