What is Serevent Diskus?
Serevent Diskus (salmeterol xinafoate) is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) used for the treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, thereby improving breathing. Serevent Diskus is usually prescribed as part of a comprehensive asthma or COPD management plan and should not be used as a rescue medication for acute symptoms.Side Effects

- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease, heart or blood vessel disease, heart rhythm problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, epilepsy or seizures, or thyroid problems.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Increased risk of asthma-related hospital stays, intubations, and deathIncreased trouble breathing right after use (paradoxical bronchospasm)Heart or blood vessel problems, including chest pain, changes in blood pressure, or heart rhythm problemsHigh blood sugar
- Inhalation routeIf you use a corticosteroid medicine to control your asthma, keep using it as instructed by your doctor. Take all of your asthma or COPD medicines as your doctor ordered. Do not change your doses or stop using your medicines without first asking your doctor.
- This should not be the first and only medicine you use for your asthma or COPD. This medicine will not stop an asthma or COPD attack that has already started. You should have another medicine to use in case of an acute asthma attack or COPD flare-up. Tell your doctor right away if your condition gets worse or you need to use your other medicine more often than usual.
- Inhalation routeIf any of your asthma medicines do not seem to be working as well as usual, call your doctor right away. Do not change your doses or stop using your medicines without asking your doctor.
