What is Triumeq?
Triumeq is an antiviral medication used to treat HIV and slow the progression of the disease. It is not a cure for HIV, solely a treatment. Warnings
- Using this medicine while you are pregnant can harm your unborn baby. If you are a woman who can get pregnant, your doctor may do tests to make sure you are not pregnant before starting treatment. Do not use this medicine during the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy. Use an effective form of birth control to keep from getting pregnant. Tell your doctor right away if you think you have become pregnant.
- Do not breastfeed. You can spread HIV or AIDS to your baby through your breast milk.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease (including hepatitis B or C), diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. Tell your doctor if you smoke.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Lactic acidosis (too much acid in the blood)Liver problemsIncreased risk of heart attack
- Your immune system may get stronger when you start taking HIV medicines. This could cause a hidden infection in your body to become active. Tell your doctor right away if you notice any changes in your health.
