Looking for a Xenical coupon? Xenical is the brand name for prescription orlistat 120 mg, an FDA-approved weight-management medicine that blocks your body from absorbing about a quarter to a third of the fat in your meals. Whether you have commercial insurance, Medicare, or no coverage at all, the free Rx.com cash coupon can lower what you pay at the pharmacy counter. Enter your ZIP above to see today's price on Xenical or its lower-cost generic orlistat near you.
What is Xenical and how does it work?
Xenical is prescription orlistat 120 mg, a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor. Instead of acting on your brain or appetite, it works locally in your gut: it blocks the enzymes that break down dietary fat, so roughly 25 to 30 percent of the fat you eat passes through undigested rather than being absorbed and stored. It is FDA-approved for weight management in adults and in adolescents 12 and older, alongside a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet, and to help reduce the risk of regaining weight after you have already lost some.
Doctors generally prescribe it for people with obesity (a BMI of 30 or higher) or who are overweight (a BMI of 27 or higher) with weight-related risk factors such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or abnormal cholesterol. Xenical is not a stimulant and is not a controlled substance. It works best as part of a lasting change in eating habits, not on its own.
Xenical cost, generics, and how to save
The single biggest savings lever with Xenical is the generic. Orlistat 120 mg is available as an FDA-approved, substitutable generic, and asking your prescriber or pharmacist to fill the generic instead of the brand almost always lowers your out-of-pocket cost. There is also an over-the-counter version, Alli (orlistat 60 mg), which is the same medicine at half the prescription strength and does not need a prescription.
Xenical's manufacturer does not currently offer a widely available commercial-insurance savings card the way some brand drugs do, and manufacturer copay cards, when they exist, generally exclude people with Medicare, Medicaid, or no insurance. That is where the Rx.com cash coupon helps: it is free, works whether or not you have insurance, and is useful for the uninsured, for Medicare enrollees, or any time a pharmacy card is declined. You cannot combine a cash coupon with your insurance on the same fill, so compare both and use whichever is lower. Xenical vs. other weight-loss options
Xenical works very differently from most other weight-management drugs, so the right choice depends on your health profile and what your provider recommends. Because it acts only in the gut and is not absorbed much into the body, orlistat is sometimes chosen for people who want to avoid stimulant or brain-acting medicines.
- Appetite-acting oral options: phentermine, Qsymia (phentermine/topiramate), and Contrave (bupropion/naltrexone) work on appetite and cravings rather than fat absorption.
- GLP-1 injectables: Wegovy (semaglutide) and Saxenda (liraglutide) are weekly or daily injections that tend to produce larger average weight loss, but cost and side effects differ.
- Same drug, different strength: Alli is the over-the-counter 60 mg version of the same orlistat found in Xenical.

Safety, side effects, and interactions
The most common effects of Xenical are digestive and come directly from the unabsorbed fat: oily or fatty stools, oily spotting, gas with discharge, an urgent need to have a bowel movement, and more frequent or hard-to-control bowel movements. These are worse after high-fat meals and often ease when you keep meals lower in fat. Because Xenical reduces absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K and of beta-carotene, a daily multivitamin taken at bedtime (at least two hours apart from your dose) is recommended.
Xenical should not be used in people with chronic malabsorption syndrome, cholestasis (blocked bile flow), or during pregnancy. There have been rare postmarketing reports of severe liver injury and of acute kidney injury from increased urinary oxalate, so use caution if you have kidney stones or reduced kidney function. Orlistat can also lower the absorption of certain medicines, including cyclosporine, levothyroxine, warfarin, some antiseizure drugs, and some HIV antiretrovirals, so your dosing may need to be separated in time and monitored. Xenical does not carry a boxed warning. Tell your provider about all your medicines and conditions before starting, and seek care for signs of liver or kidney trouble.
