¿Qué es Ethacrynic Acid?
El ácido etacrínico es un diurético de asa potente que se utiliza principalmente para tratar la retención de líquidos (edema) asociada con insuficiencia cardíaca, enfermedad renal o enfermedad hepática, cuando se considera necesario un agente con mayor potencial diurético que los tradicionalmente utilizados. A diferencia de otros diuréticos de asa, el ácido etacrínico es un derivado del ácido fenoxiacético, no un sulfonamida, lo que lo hace adecuado para pacientes alérgicos a los medicamentos sulfas. Funciona inhibiendo el cotransportador de sodio-potasio-cloruro en la rama ascendente del asa de Henle, lo que conduce a una diuresis y natriuresis significativas.Side Effects
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Bloody or black stools.
- Chest pain, shortness of breath, or coughing up blood.
Warnings
- Confusion, weakness, uneven heartbeat, shortness of breath, or numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips.
- Dry mouth, increased thirst, muscle cramps.
- Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant, or breast feeding, or if you have heart disease, severe kidney disease or cirrhosis (a liver disease).
- You may need to weigh yourself daily and record your weight.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
