¿Qué es Maxidex?
Maxidex (suspensión oftálmica de dexametasona) es una formulación de gotas para los ojos a base de corticoesteroides que se utiliza para tratar la inflamación y el dolor asociados con condiciones oculares, como después de una cirugía ocular o en ciertas infecciones oculares. El ingrediente activo, la dexametasona, funciona inhibiendo las respuestas inflamatorias en el ojo, lo que reduce la hinchazón, el enrojecimiento y la incomodidad. Se prescribe para uso a corto plazo bajo estricta supervisión médica para evitar posibles efectos secundarios, como el aumento de la presión intraocular y el riesgo de infecciones secundarias.Side Effects
- Blurred vision or change in vision
- Increased pain, redness, discharge, swelling, or irritation of the eye
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have asthma, allergies, glaucoma, cataracts, or an eye infection.
- This medicine may cause the following problems: Eye problems (including glaucoma, cataracts, infections) with long-term useIncreased pressure in your eye, which can damage the optic nerveNew or worsening eye infectionsSlow healing of the eye
- Ophthalmic routeIf you hurt your eye, develop an eye infection, or need to have eye surgery, talk with your doctor right away. You may need to change your medicine or stop using it. Tell your doctor if you had a cataract surgery.
- You will need to have your eyes checked regularly, especially if you use Maxidex® for 10 days or longer. Be sure to keep all appointments.
- Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
