Omegaven es una emulsión lipídica intravenosa que se utiliza principalmente para proporcionar ácidos grasos esenciales y calorías a pacientes pediátricos que requieren nutrición parenteral. Compuesta por aceite de pescado, es rica en ácidos grasos omega-3, los cuales son conocidos por ser antiinflamatorios y por apoyar la función inmune y la integrididad celular. Omegaven está específicamente indicado para prevenir y tratar la colestasis asociada a la nutrición parenteral en infantes.Side Effects
- Change in how much or how often you urinate, difficult or painful urination
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, blood clotting problems, heart failure, diabetes, or obesity.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:Lung problem, including acute respiratory distress syndromeMetabolic acidosisIncreased risk of infectionsFat overload syndromeRefeeding syndrome (in severely undernourished patients)Aluminum toxicity
- Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
